Have you ever felt you were meant to do something? Whether it was a career change, relocating, getting married, or having a child, sometimes your heart helps you recognize that you made the right choice. I had this experience recently when I began my journey to become a yoga teacher and fundraise $5,000 to help build a school in Nepal through buildOn.
My younger brothers have inspired me to empower individuals with disabilities here in Pennsylvania as my career. However, over the years I began developing a deep awareness for those in developing countries who have so little, yet remain strong through love and courage. I wanted to get involved in some way but didn't know how. Then, I learned about Beyond Asana's yoga teacher training which included building a school in Nepal through buildOn. I knew I was meant to be a part of it!
BuildOn has been transforming communities through service and education for 20 years. As of 2012 they have helped build over 400 schools worldwide that educate over 66,000 children daily.
Currently more than half the population of Nepal live below the poverty line of $1.25 US dollars a day. Many have no electricity, running water, or access to schools. With your help, I will live with a host family for 10 days and work together to build a new school!
Providing access to education for even one remote village can change the lives of hundreds of children living in poverty year-after-year. Together, with my Beyond Asana yogis, we hope to raise $75,000 to build this school in Nepal.
Any donation, big or small, will help and will make a difference! Your support is truly appreciated.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead
I wil be happy to contribute to your fund. It's a wonderful idea and I know it will come to fruitation. Ceil Matthews
